It is a common written examination hosted by IBPS (Institute of Banking personnel selection) for recruiting officers and Office assistants in Regional Rural banks. There is a different exam pattern for different Officer Scales.

It is a written examination which consists of 5 sections:

Numerical ability: here the candidate is judged on the basis of his/her knowledge of elementary Mathematics(arithmetic, square roots, cube roots, Logarithms etc), Commercial Maths(knowing the calculation of interest, percentage, discount, profit and loss etc) and Mensuration(areas and Volumes)

Test of Reasoning: Verbal questions on data interpretation, data sufficiency, classification etc and non verbal tests (questions on symmetry and visual ability)

English: it tests Candidate’s English Language proficiency, comprehension, vocabulary and common usage errors.

General awareness: Basic general knowledge related to countries, currencies, animals etc, General studies such as history, polity, science, environment etc and currents events(recent events, people, places in news both nationally and internationally. awards, authors etc.)

Computer knowledge: Computer languages, hardware, software, use of internet etc.

A 0.25 negative marking is imposed when an objective question is answered incorrectly, however if the question is left blank, then it won’t be imposed.
